Manual Handling Theory and Practical Assessment         

Course Overview

Our Manual Handling course comprises of two components Theory and Practical. The theoretical section delves into topics such as, Legislation, the Anatomy, Ergonomics and Risk Assessment. The practical section of this course introduces the Participant to safe handling practices of inanimate objects directly related to their workplace. This Training is delivered by a Qualified QQI Level 6 Instructor and upon completion the Participant will be awarded a Certificate that is valid for 3 years.

All courses are awarded a Summit Safety Training Services certificate at request and must be identified prior to training taking place.

Summit Safety takes the Safety, Health and Welfare of participants seriously, learners will be asked to declare any medical conditions and/or injuries. All courses come with a Safety Brief prior to any practical demonstrations and/or physical practice. Learners must be fit to train.

Who is this course aimed at?

This course is aimed at Individual’s in any workplace setting. It is an Employer’s Responsibility (Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act, 2005), to ensure all Employee’s are adequately and effectively trained in Manual Handling where these tasks within the workplace exist.

How often should refresher manual handling training be delivered?

There is no set requirement, but it is recommended that refresher training should be provided at intervals not more than every three years or where there is a change in work practices resulting in the introduction of a new system of work related to manual handling or use of equipment to handled loads.

If you are in employment that requires you to lift, carry, transport or support in tasks then you must be trained in Manual Handling, the training gives you working knowledge on how to prevent injuries in the workplace and gives you the attitude in being proactive about Health & Safety measures your Employer has implemented for your Safety.

No. The HSA (Health Safety Authority) does not approve of full courses being facilitated online, practical assessments must be assessed by the Instructor in person.
